Reviewing the OnePlus Nord CE 4: A balanced phone under 25K

The all-new mid-range OnePlus Nord CE 4 has been launched in India. The funny thing is that its been launched on 1 April 2024 which was a fool day. The specs of the phone had been revealed by OnePlus last month. The device is powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, a 6.7-inch 120HZ display and a dual 50MP + 8MP camera setup under the price tag of Rs.25000.

The Nord series from the OnePlus is one of the most selling phones. It gets some good upgrades from the Nord CE 3 but also with negligible changes. So let us cover everything in detail and whether this phone perfectly stands for its price.

So hello guys welcome to the Technoshe tech blogs, we are dedicated to you simply providing the latest tech blogs.

Design, Built Quality and Hands-on experience

The design is refreshed from the previous model. When you see the back of the phone, you will notice its surface shines moreover like it’s made up of marble. This brings a unique pattern over the back of the phone, which looks good. But at the same time when you hold the phone, it’s more likely made up of plastic which does not feel premium at all. But some brands also provide glass back and vegan leather which sums up a good build.

Coming to the main design aspects, it has flat edges and a minor curve from the back side. On the back side, you will through it has a triple camera setup but that’s a dual camera setup. It has a dual flashlight which acts as the third camera lens. You will get all the essential features such as an IR blaster, IP54 Rating and alert slider. The IP54 rating typically means you can use the phone with some water drops but you cannot use the phone underwater at all.

This device does bring the typical OnePlus Nord series design but doesn’t seem to bring a unique design or elegant design either. I will say it has a decent or today’s type of design which doesn’t feel to be a new design like Nothing’s design.

Display details in depth

On the front side of the phone, you will get a 6.7-inch FHD AMOLED display which has a resolution of 1080 by 2412 pixels. It has a 120HZ refresh rate display that feels super smooth. The display quality is very high and you will be able to experience crisp and rich colors while watching content. The viewing experience becomes more enjoyable due to the slim and uniform bezels.

In terms of brightness, it has 1100 nits of brightness which is a good number. But trust this is enough brightness for indoor as well as for outdoor usage.

Also, the display supports HDR 10 + which enhances the overall content watching. You can watch a high dynamic range and the colour pops out which looks amazing. The Nord CE 4 has an in-display fingerprint sensor which is fast and at a comfortable location.

Software Support and Battery Life

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 came out with Oxygen OS 14 based on Android 14. It will get the Android 16 update as the last major update and the security patches coming in until 2027.

The Oxygen OS 14 is way more stable and faster than some custom skins such as Realme UI or Funtouch OS. I mean OnePlus was more famous for their Oxygen OS and also price to performance. With the Oxygen OS, you can customize app icons, fonts, wallpapers, etc.

By Android 14, you are getting a very helpful side dock. But still, you are not getting lock screen customization instead, you are not getting any kind of lock screen magazine which is good for some users but for some, this is very weird and awful.

The battery life depends on usage to usage. The Nord CE 4 has a 5500mAh battery capacity with 100W charging speed. See the phone’s battery capacity is enough, and the battery consumption depends on the user and how he/she uses the phone. On normal usage, the device can last up to 1 day easily. The 100W charging speed is enough to charge the phone fast so you don’t have to worry about slow changes at all.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Performance

In the performance section, the Nord CE 4 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 with 8 Gigs of RAM. Performance mainly depends on how you will use the device. There 2 types of users, one is who only do basic purpose tasks such as content consumption, camera things, social media and video editing. Second is gamers who do only gaming but do all basic things.

Genshin Impact

For gamers, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is no doubt a powerful chipset. I mean this is a mid-segment chipset that runs BGMI at 60FPS and 40FPS at the highest settings. Call of Duty Warzone Mobile runs this significantly but COD Warzone Mobile isn’t optimized even for flagship phones too. But I can say that it can run all games at possible settings.

For those users who do basic things then why not this mid-segment phone do all things? As I say those who want to experience a OnePlus phone, especially the Nord series. This phone better stands for an all-rounder mid-segment phone.

Overall, the performance is excellent enough to handle all tasks but on heavy tasks, it might heat up and degrade its performance. But the Nord CE 4 will not disappoint you in daily tasks.

Camera Performance in Short

So this has a dual camera setup with a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP Ultra-Wide lens. It also supports HDR but only with the primary camera. In indoor conditions, the primary camera captures good photos with good colour, contrast and enough details. But a colour shift occurs when you capture photos with the ultra-wide camera. I mean there is a significant difference in terms of colour, details and contrast with the ultra-wide lens. You can use it in some conditions where an ultra-wide lens will be a good option.

It captures good portrait shorts but is not like any flagship device in portrait photography. The edge detection is likely to be ok but sometimes it darker some areas while capturing a portrait photo. The consistency might be a concern but it will not disappoint you in terms of portrait shorts.

Coming to the video recording capabilities, it captures 4k 30FPS without OIS and 1080P 60FPS with OIS. You can record video decently like for normal tasks such as capturing some moments or might for Instagram reels. It also comes with cinematic mode which blurs the background and it works well. For front camera recording ya that 1080P 30FPS is all for the front camera.

In conclusion, it has decent camera capabilities but not the best in this segment. I mean another phone has a better camera but with an average UI. So all users don’t capture photos all the time they capture photos at a significant time. And this doesn’t disappoint in camera performance at all.

In conclusion

The mid-range OnePlus Nord CE4 is a powerhouse, with a seamless 120Hz display, a capable Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, and a fast-charging 5500mAh battery. With Oxygen OS 14, users can enjoy an attractive and customizable software interface, enhancing their overall experience.

However, it is important to note that the phone also has some shortcomings. The plastic build may not look as luxurious as glass-backed competitors, and the camera system, while suitable for everyday use, may not be the best in class.

That being said, if you value a seamless display, fast performance, and a clean software experience at an affordable price, the Nord CE 4 is worth considering. Gamers will appreciate its ability to handle most titles with ease, while casual users will find it easier to tackle daily tasks.

On the other hand, if a top-tier camera or premium build quality is a priority for you, it might be worth exploring other options available in the market.
