OnePlus Nord 3 – Is It Worth Buying? Final Cut Review

The OnePlus Nord 3 has been recently launched in the mid-segment. OnePlus’s Nord 3 has the same price as the previously launched Nord 2 isn’t it interesting? But here are some cach about this newly launched device.

So in this article, we will cover this mid-segment flagship phone worth buying or not. So let’s move further.

Is OnePlus Nord 3 overprice?

Yes, OnePlus Nord 3 is overpriced not only in price to performance but the overall performance also. Nord 3 currently costs Rs 33,999 ($552) on Amazon.

At the same price, IQOO Neo 7 Pro will be a far better option in this price range. Neo 7 Pro has the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen +1 chipset. And if you can increase your budget to around 40k then OnePlus 11R would be a far premium investment.

Overall, Nord 3 under 30k could be a better option.

Design

The Nord 3 has a good combination of boxy and curved design. At the back, the glass is slightly curved at the edges. So that it doesn’t hurt your hand while holding the phone for a long time.

At the front, it has a flat screen which makes it easier for getting a screen protector.

The design might be subjective but the OnePlus 11R would feel more premium. Because 11R has a modern design on the other side, Nord 3 has a classic design and simple camera module.

Some Cons

  • Its back is kind of slippery and catches fingerprints easily. So it’s recommended to use a phone cover that comes in the box by default.
  • It has a Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the back. At the front, you will get Dragon Trail Protection which is kind of a weird thing. I don’t know why OnePlus do this.

Display

The Nord 3 comes with a 6.7-inches Full HD+ 120Hz AMOLED display. OnePlus’s display has been not the best in the industry but the display quality is pretty good. Color and details come out pretty well according to the mid-segment.

The display supports HDR 10 both on YouTube as well as on Netflix. So the content watching on a 6.7″ display will be good.

Con

The only concern will be the refresh rate. The problem is that when you set the refresh rate to auto mode in the settings then 120Hz will only work in the app drawer. On auto mode, it only runs on 60Hz on other apps such as YouTube, Brower, etc.

So you have to turn the high refresh rate mode to enjoy 120Hz in the whole phone. It will consume more battery if you want that high refresh rate experience.

Camera

Nord 3 has a triple camera setup of 50MP Main, 8MP Ultra-Wide, and 2MP Macro. It captures decent photos and the detail in photos is fine. Even in low light, it captures fine images.

For comparison, we can take 11R because it has the same camera specs. So the 11R captures more details and it tries to capture more natural colors. Usually, the OnePlus devices capture saturated or somewhat beauty side images. Choosing 11R over Nord 3 would be a good option.

Even both phones record video at 4k 60FPS and there are a lot of differences, such as stabilization, sharpness, and color tone.

A 16MP selfie camera has been given at the front. The selfie camera is fine. There is nothing to talk about selfie camera. But it records 1080P 30FPS only.

Verdict on cameras

Side by side 11r has better cameras and good video recording capabilities. And for separate Nord 3, it has decent camera capabilities.

Software

Out of the box, Nord 3 comes with Oxygen OS 13 based on Android 13. Oxygen OS is merged with the Color OS. But you will experience a clean OS most of the time. There will be no pre-installed third-party apps but some OnePlus official apps.

As it has come with Android 13, OnePlus has promised 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates.

Note that, Oxygen OS may have bugs with the newly launched OnePlus device. Oxygen OS performs differently on different OnePlus devices. Well, the software experience will be better than other OS such as Realme UI, MIUI, etc.

Performance

The OnePlus Nord 3 gets Mediatek Dimensity 9000 with the base variant of 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The MD 9000 performs roughly close to Snapdragon 8 Gen +1. But performance depends on OS optimization and processor architecture.

It performs very well in everyday usage such as calling, web browsing, photography, etc. You can do casual gaming and even BGMI(PUBG Mobile) at 60FPS. Note that it is not recommended for heavy gamers but for casual gamers.

Nord 3 scores nearly 907022 in Antutu benchmarks. This device has two modes one is normal mode and the second is performance mode. This score is achieved with performance mode.

Although, the phone performs very well without any issues. The only concern is that if you are a heavy gamer this phone is not for you. Try to increase your budget for 11R for a better gaming experience.

Battery

In the battery department, Nord 3 has not disappointed with the 5000 mAh. Depending on your usage, expect a reliable one days on a single charge.

As far as improvements go, the included 80-W fast charger is a bonus. Your battery will be up to 100% in just 50 minutes.

Conclusion

In conclusion, if you get Nord 3 at 30k then this will be a good deal. And for 35k, just go for IQOO Neo 7 Pro it will provide more performance.

For OnePlus fans if you can push your budget to 40k then OnePlus 11R will be a far better option.
