In my aspect, the OnePlus 9 series was like the last good OnePlus series. In the last 2 years, OnePlus has not impressed users with their 10 and 11 series. After almost 2 years, should we look for OnePlus 9 in 2023?
The OnePlus 9 will be a good option at a good price point. Especially, this device is only available as second hand, imported market, and in refurbished condition. Usually, this device costs around 30k in used condition and it is available online via Cashify and Amazon.
Basically, this blog post will ensure that “Is OnePlus 9 worth buying in 2023?” And what are the problems after purchasing this device in 2023?

Design and Display
OnePlus 9 was the flagship phone and we can aspect a flagship design. The design is similar to a typical Android phone. This device comes with a plastic frame which is kind of weird when you have a flagship phone. In-hand usage of the phone feels premium but we can aspect a glass body. At the front, we got a flat display which is a good preference for many people. Because the Pro models of OnePlus usually come with a curved display which is not practically beneficial.
The OnePlus 9 sports a 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED display that offers a great viewing experience. With vibrant colours, deep blacks and excellent contrast levels, the display displays content with remarkable clarity. The high refresh rate of up to 120Hz ensures smooth and responsive scrolling, making it ideal for gaming and navigating through user interfaces. With HDR10+ support and careful display calibration by Hasselblad, the OnePlus 9’s display delivers a rich and immersive viewing experience for multimedia content.
In short, the design and display are excellent there is no such deal-breaker spot.
The OnePlus 9 series was the only series that was integrated with a Hasselblad camera. The on-paper specs of the camera are a 48MP main sensor, 50MP Ultra-Wide, and 2MP monochrome. Interestingly, there is no telephone lens which results in a lack of zoom portrait shots. Well if you need a phone which captures natural-looking photos, a kind of real and good innovated camera phone then this could be a good option.
Overall cameras are pretty good for an impressive price. The phone captures good photos in a daylight environment. And at night, it might not capture at best but pretty good. Coming to the selfie camera, a 16MP sensor captures above-average photos. With the 8k video recording, this phone becomes the only phone which records 8k video in this price range.
OnePlus 9 Performance
The OnePlus 9 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset which is a flagship chipset. If you compare it to today’s latest processors then defiantly it might not perform like them. This chipset will ensure a smooth experience while on basic to moderate usage like browsing the web, social media, messaging, and multimedia playback with ease. Apps open quickly, and navigating through the user interface is smooth.
If you are a heavy user then it might not be the best option but it can handle with some more heating. Yes, this phone heats a bit because of Snapdragon 888 which is unoptimized to handle heating. For example, when you play BGMI on 90FPS, after some time it gets heated up to 43 degrees Celsius and for cooling down it drops from 90FPS to 60FPS.
OnePlus 9 Price In India
As I have already mentioned, you will probably get this phone in used or refurbished condition. So the price may vary depending on the device condition and variant. Most of the time, its price varies from 25k to 30k depending on the condition. In India, there are basically two official e-commerce which offer trust and warranty as well. In my opinion, Amazon and Cashify are selling good refurbished phones at reasonable prices. And don’t forget to check phone prices on the offline market.

The OnePlus 9 comes with a 4,500mAh battery, which offers solid battery life for everyday use. While the actual battery performance may vary based on individual usage patterns, the OnePlus 9 benefits from power-efficient hardware, including the Snapdragon 888 chipset. Additionally, on heavy usage, its battery drains more than usual.
It comes with a fast adapter that supports Warp Charge 65W fast charging technology. Even if its battery drains quickly then it also charges fast. There is no complaint from the battery segment.
OnePlus has promised 3 years of major and 4 years of security updates. Well, this phone came with Android 11 and now currently running on Android 13. This means it only gets one Android update only. So you can’t get software updates on an old phone. This is the only deal-breaker spot but if you can manage then there is no problem with the software experience. Additionally, Oxygen OS is merged with the Color OS which is another good innovation.
In 2023, if you compare it with the latest phones then the OnePlus 9 will not disappoint you. The only drawback is its performance but it is acceptable when you consider price point. It has a top-notch design, display, camera, and battery. Although, you will get a flagship experience and its feels premium.
In my opinion, it’s literally worth buying OnePlus 9 in 2023.
