Clean Software

Out of the box, Nord 3 comes with Oxygen OS 12 based on Android 12. Oxygen OS is merged with the Color OS. But you will experience a clean OS most of the time. There will be no pre-installed third-party apps but some OnePlus official apps.

As it has come with Android 12, OnePlus has promised 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates.

Oxygen OS performs differently on different OnePlus devices. Well, the software experience will be better than other OS such as Realme UI, MIUI, etc.

Disappointing Design

First thing first it’s in-hand experience, cause it is completely made up of plastic, and the experience becomes less premium. Its back is of plastic even its frame are of plastic even we can expect an aluminum frame.

The design of the phone does feel cheap due to the camera module and back having stripes. This doesn’t include an alert slider which is the best feature you will find in a OnePlus device.

Moreover, it has Wifi 6 of 5 5G bands and Bluetooth V5.3 but there is a downgrade with the speaker’s quality. The speakers have low indepth sounds which makes the whole experience good. Another downgrade, no IP rating has been given to this phone by OnePlus.

Although, OnePlus is famous for its elegant design and somewhat premium design language. But the 10R has neither an elegant design nor premium-ness. The design might depend on person to person.

Impressive Display

The display is flat which is a 6.7-inch FHD AMOLED 120HZ display. It supports HDR10 with a peak brightness of 950nits. For protection, it has Cornia Glass 6 in the front display.

With the display quality, you have good color gamuts for better-enjoying content watching. The peak brightness is also expectedly good in the outdoors. For YouTube, it supports 4k60 FPS HDR playback compatibility.

Overall there is no such problem with the display quality and features. This is the expected performance from the display department.

Average Performance

The OnePlus 10R is powered by Mediatek Dimensity 8100 Max. Because of OnePlus collaborated with MediaTek, the processor name out with a Max extension. This chipset is similarly performing to the Snapdragon 870 or 888.

It performs very well in everyday usage such as calling, web browsing, photography, etc. You can do casual gaming and even BGMI(PUBG Mobile) at 60FPS. Note that it is not recommended for heavy gamers but for casual gamers. 10R scores nearly 783,523 in Antutu benchmarks. The newly launched OnePlus Nord 3 has better performance than this phone.

Although, the phone performs very well without any issues. The only concern is that if you are a heavy gamer this phone is not for you. Try to increase your budget for Nord 3 or better for a better gaming experience.

Average Camera

OnePlus 10R has a triple camera setup of 50MP Main, 8MP Ultra-Wide, and 2MP Macro. It captures decent photos and the detail in photos is fine. Even in low light, it captures fine images.

So the 10R captures more details and it tries to capture saturated photos. But there are some issues with the camera:

  • Bad White Balance
  • Focus issues
  • HDR inconsistency

For Video recording, it can record at 4k 30FPS / 1080P 60FPS. But 4k 30FPS is very useless because of no support for stabilization. So it’s recommended to record video at 1080P 60FPS for better video output results.

A 16MP selfie camera has been given at the front. The selfie camera is fine. There is nothing to talk about selfie camera. But it records 1080P 30FPS only.

Verdict on cameras

Overall, this phone is not for photography or videography. Invest in a better camera phone if your main focus is on the camera. It has below-average cameras not recommended for camera lovers.

Good Battery

In the battery department, 10R has not disappointed with the 5000 mAh. Depending on your usage, expect a reliable one days on a single charge.

As far as improvements go, the included 80-W/150-W fast charger is a bonus. Your battery will be up to 100% in just 32min/20min.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this device might not be worth buying in 2023. Because of average cameras and most important its design, it doesn’t feel premium at all.

Under 30k I will recommend, the newly launched OnePlus Nord 3 which has a better design, a good camera, and performance. If you are looking for a gaming phone then push your budget for IQOO Neo 7 Pro.
