Is Motorola Edge Plus Worth Buying in 2023?

So the Motorola Edge Plus is an almost 3-year-old device. It was launched at around the time of the S22 Ultra launch. It has solid specifications such as a curved display, a 108MP camera, and a 5000mAh battery.

Still, this device captures a very limited audience. I personally will not recommend this device. So, if you want to know how exactly this device performs in 2023? Read this simple and short article.

Design

So this device seems to be fatty compared to the normal phones. It has curved sides so that the sides become rounded. On the right side of the phone, the power, and volume up and down buttons are kept at the backside instead of the center.

At the bottom side, a 3.5mm port for headphones which is nice. At the backside, we have the Motorola logo with a triple camera setup. In the front, we got a 3D 90-degree curved display which is okay look-wise but practically not preferred.

Display

Motorola has given a 6.7-inch FHD Plus OLED 90HZ display. The display is both sides curved and it actually has a heavy curved display. It supports 10-bit colors and HDR10+. Display specs-wise, this phone comes with no compromise from the display department. Because of the OLED panel, it turns perfectly to dark mode.

Because of the heavy curved display, it becomes unpractical to use so curved phone. If by chance, the phone’s display gets accidentally damaged or breaks then the display cost will be half of the device price. The heavily curved display also leads to the lack of protection glasses for this device.

So it depends on you how well this device is good for you. In my opinion, this curved panel will only give accidental touches nothing more than that.

Battery life

Motorola has given a 5000mAh battery which is pretty nice from today’s standard. Because this device doesn’t feature a QHD+ display, 120HZ refresh rate, and the processor is not power intensive. So from the battery department, this device doesn’t disappoint us.

On normal usage, it will give at least 6 hours of screen time. On heavy usage, it will give at least 4 hours of screen time. The Motorola Edge Plus supported 18W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.

Performance

Edge Plus is powered by Snapdragon 865 with fast 12GB RAM. This processor was the flagship processor of its time. And the good news is that this processor is still fast and snappy. In day-to-day tasks, this processor is better than today’s mid-range processors.

Many people think that old processors lag and get degraded over time. But this processor is still capable of running all apps without lagging and with the 90HZ display it feels super smooth. You can play heavy games in the best settings. From the 2023 aspect, this processor is still a beast in this price range.

Therefore, this device will perform solidly in 2023.

Camera

The phone features a triple camera setup, 108MP main + 16MP Ultra Wide + 8MP 3X Optical Zoom. Motorola’s camera software typically included various shooting modes, night mode, and image stabilization features, enhancing the overall photography experience.

In simple words, you can’t compare this device’s camera performance to the Google phone, Apple, and Samsung. It captures decent photos in daylight situations. But note that it might give different photos in different situations.

Cons

  1. Low-Light Performance Variability: While the device generally performed well in low-light conditions, some users reported variability in low-light performance, with occasional noise or less impressive results depending on the specific lighting conditions.
  2. Camera App Interface: Some users found the camera app interface to be less intuitive or feature-rich compared to those of other flagship smartphones, which could impact the user experience.
  3. Telephoto Zoom Quality: The quality of the telephoto zoom lens could vary, with some users expecting more impressive zoom capabilities from a flagship device.

Conclusion

For the conclusion, I will keep it simple and short. So this device has a decent performance, average cameras, good display quality, and excellent battery. But the situation becomes worse when it comes to design. Because of the heavy curved panel, there are very high chances of easily breaking of display.

So if you will keep this device very secure then just go for it. And if not just don’t waste money on this device.
