iPhone X was an extremely innovative phone at the time when it was launched. Because it was the first iPhone from Apple which offers an edge-to-edge display, Face ID, OLED display, and more. With many improvements, iPhone X is still a great iPhone in 2023.

Note that it is a 6-year-old iPhone which is not outdated from today’s aspect. Recently Apple has announced their IOS 17 which is the latest OS for iPhones. The iPhone X still gets IOS 17 officially which plays a major software improvement from Apple. Also iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will not get the IOS 17 as get stuck on IOS 16 forever.

In this article, I will share my thoughts on iPhone X in 2023 and I will give a conclusion to clear out my overall understanding.

Design and Build
Coming to the design, this iPhone has a premium design as today’s iPhone. It has a premium stainless steel frame which is given to Pro versions of iPhones. Another plus point is the rounded edges design which gives a better in-hand experience as compared to flat edges. Because of its compact size and glass back, it gives an overall a great experience in hand.
In the front, it has an OLED display with an edge-to-edge display and a notch which was a major improvement from previous generations. No doubt build quality is good with a glass back and stainless steel edges.

Display
It has a 5.8-inch Super Retina HD display with an OLED panel. This display offers 2436 * 1125 pixels at 458 pixels per inch (ppi). It has also a true tone display and peek brightness of 625 nits. You can play HDR10 content and it also supports Dolby Vision. One of the best features in 3D Touch which are vanished nowadays in newer iPhones. Overall display quality and colors it produces are good enough for content consumption.
There are fewer drawbacks such as 625 nits of brightness may be lesser in outdoor and not support for 4k playback.
Chipset
The iPhone X is equipped with the Apple A11 Bionic chip, which is a powerful six-core processor. It consists of two high-performance cores and four energy-efficient cores, providing a balance between performance and battery efficiency. As iPhones are popular for their well-optimized OS and performance is still decant in 2023. But not as powerful as newer iPhones.
You could be able to do heavy work on this iPhone without any lag or performance downgrade. This performance is good enough for day-to-day tasks and some workload. And about gaming, this phone is not made for heavy gaming but it can handle for casual gaming. Proper gaming is not possible because of battery life.

Battery
If you want to buy a used iPhone X then you will probably not get the original battery of the iPhone X. As Apple has discontinued the production of the iPhone X for many years now it becomes very difficult to find the original battery of the iPhone X. The battery backup from fake batteries becomes more worst if you do heavy tasks such as gaming.
So definitely, you will get a poor battery backup from a used iPhone X. And the original battery is not available for now. You will have to suffer from battery backup.
Camera
The iPhone X introduced a dual-camera system consisting of a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens (f/1.8 aperture) and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens (f/2.4 aperture). This configuration enabled features such as optical zoom, digital zoom up to 10x, and portrait mode with depth-of-field effects. The camera system also included optical image stabilization (OIS) for both lenses, ensuring clearer and sharper photos, especially in low-light conditions.
Cameras are average because it is six years old device that doesn’t capture as well as today’s iPhones. The same story for the front camera which is a 7-megapixel camera clicks average photos.

Other features of the iPhone X are Water and dust resistance (IP67 rated) since if you buy a used one then this IP rating will not work only if it gets opened once. It also features dual stereo speakers which perform well.
Conclusion
Coming to the conclusion, there are many points where I will not recommend this iPhone and some points to recommend.
Why not buy it?
- A major point is the poor battery backup from a used iPhone X.
- Average cameras are not preferred for those who want to buy this device for photography or some content creation.
- Because of poor battery backup extreme gaming is not possible.
- No support for 5G which can become a deal breaker.
Why not buy it?
This basically depends on user usage if you want to use this device as your secondary device then this device is probably a good choice.
Moreover, you can buy an Android phone in the same price range. You just can’t use this device as your primary phone. And for primary use, you can use iPhone 11.
