iPhone 12 in 2023! Is It Worth Buying in 2023?

See iPhone 12 has brought some good improvements over the iPhone 11. Such as design approach, performance, and 5G support. Many people are confused about whether should we buy the iPhone 11 or 12 or if is it worth buying the iPhone 12 in 2023.

One of the biggest questions is whether you should buy the iPhone 12 solely for its 5G support or consider various other aspects. I personally consider all aspects, including the performance improvement and display quality

iPhone 12 Battery life

Battery life of any device depends on usage and the chipset manufacturing architecture. When comparing both phones’ chipsets, the iPhone 12 is made on 5nm architecture which makes it more battery efficient. The iPhone 12 has a 2,815mAh battery which is 296mAh less than the iPhone 11.

There is only slightly better battery life found on iPhone 12. We can expect one-day battery life but on normal usage only or you might have to charge the device once a day. Also, this depends on the battery health of the device. Good battery health starts from 85% to 95% and tries to get a device with good battery health.

If you are ready for heavy usage, then be prepared for multiple times charging the phone. Heavy tasks such as gaming, camera usage, and video editing may require frequent charging.

So minimal design

One thing you will find the difference in them is the boxy design of the iPhone 12. From the design language to the display size and to the build quality is almost identical except camera module. There is no reason to buy the iPhone 12 just for design if you like the rounded edges of the iPhone 11.

iPhone 12

This one has flat edges which does come in today’s iPhone. Flat edges have a slightly lower grip while holding the phone. But it really depends on person to person how they hold to get comfort in their hand.

It has the same display size as today’s base iPhones but has a big notch. Eventually, it is a little bigger than the iPhone 13 because of the bezel’s size. Moreover, this one has dual speakers, a charging port, volume up and down, a power button, and an alert slider.

Display specs are fully improved!

Another point it has different display specs from the iPhone 11. So there is a point in buying this for display.

Apple iPhone 12 has a display size of 6.1 inches Super Retina XDR display. This is an OLED display so that you will get deep dark picture quality and quite battery efficient. This is the best upgrade from the iPhone 11 if you buy iPhone 12 for content consumption.

Further, a 1080P panel with a 60HZ refresh rate. The display has a resolution of 2532‑by‑1170 pixels with a pixel density of 460 PPI. This is enough for normal to extreme usage for content consumption. The display panel produces the best colors and deep black.

iPhone 11 has a 720P display which will disappoint you in 2023. But yeah! You will miss 120HZ in all iPhone’s base models even in iPhone 15.

Best performance in this segment

The iPhone 12 is equipped with the Apple A14 Bionic chipset, which offers exceptional performance even in the year 2023. It is important to note that this iPhone model supports 5G network connectivity.

In terms of daily usage, users can expect a seamless experience without any lag or decrease in performance. The iOS operating system has been optimized to ensure a smooth and efficient user experience.

When comparing it to the 11 I really didn’t find any big performance differences. But yeah there are differences in video rendering time and CPU-intensive workloads. Let me clear out with some benchmarks:

No major camera improvement

The iPhone 12 camera boasts fewer improvements over the iPhone 11’s camera system. Firstly, the iPhone 12 features a dual-camera setup, featuring a 12-megapixel wide lens and an additional 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, giving users increased versatility in their photography.

This dual-camera configuration enables you to capture more detailed landscapes, group shots, and creative compositions.

The iPhone 12 features a 12-megapixel wide camera with an f/1.6 aperture, which improves low-light performance. It also offers Night mode on both the main and ultra-wide cameras, along with enhancements in Deep Fusion and Smart HDR 3 for better photo quality.

On the other hand, the iPhone 11 has a 12-megapixel wide camera with an f/1.8 aperture and offers Night mode primarily on the main camera. While the iPhone 12 brings notable improvements, especially in low-light photography, both phones have similar ultra-wide capabilities.

In a nutshell, the iPhone 12 offers improvements in battery life, display quality, and performance over the iPhone 11. However, its camera upgrades are not substantial.
